Was She Abducted by Indians?
The conjecture as to her fate were various, the most prevalent being that she was carried off by a staggering party of Mohawk Indians on a visit to the mountain. This was made more probable by the story of two men who went some years after this occurrence from Groton, on a trading expedition among the Indians on the Canada line. They related on their return, that they found living among the Indians a white woman, who knew nothing of her birth or parentage, than that she once lived near "Chusett hill."
